Disastrous? How bad can this guy’s life be? “The Disastrous Life of Saiki K”, released in 2016, is a comedy anime based off of the popular manga series “Saiki Kusuo no Sai-nan”, created by Shūichi Asō. It follows the protagonist, Kusuo Saiki, as he tries to conceal his psychic powers from his so called “friends” at võ thuật academy. The show has three seasons; twenty-four episodes in season one và two, và two episodes in season three. So, is this anime worth watching?

Based off the first five episodes, I’d say it is. If you are looking for an anime with no real plot, then this is the show for you. Each episode is twenty-three minutes long & consists of five segments. The first episode introduces Saiki & the main cast. His parents, Kuniharu Saiki và Kurumi Saiki are very entertaining to watch. His dad does bother me at times with how much he latches onto Saiki’s powers, but he’s overall a hilarious character. This episode also introduces Riki Nendō, Shun Kaidō, and Kokomi Teruhashi. The three set up the main characters in the show; although I personally dislike Teruhashi because of the way she acts high & mighty.

The second episode involves a dodgeball fight between the students of class 2. Kineshi Hairo is introduced as the sports obsessed character whose passion somehow inspires every living thing. While Saiki attempts to keep his popularity levels stable, Hairo gives an inspiring speech prompting everyone khổng lồ root for him. Speaking of popularity levels, Chiyo Yumehara appears with extreme love life issues opting khổng lồ try và get with Saiki. The third episode introduces Uryoku Chono, a street magician who dreams of becoming a star. His backstory makes no sense, prompting each of his actions to lớn be influenced by nothing more than sheer adrenaline. His entire appearance induces many laughs from me as I questioned what Chono was trying to accomplish.

The fourth episode introduces Reita Toritsuka, a boy who knows Saiki has psychic powers. This character annoys me, with his only saving grace being his occasional funny remarks. The fifth episode is all about đánh nhau Academy’s sports festival, which might be my favorite event in the show. The entire episode is filled with comedy, but it also points out how important Saiki’s powers really are. Throughout each episode, Saiki uses his telepathy to lớn talk, providing a lot of entertaining narration. If you want lớn invest time into this show, go for it! It’s very enjoyable and is sure to lớn get a laugh out of you. “The Disastrous Life of Saiki K” is available on Netflix & Funimation, with the option of subtitles or being dubbed in English. So, sit back, relax, maybe even eat some coffee jelly, & join Saiki on his “disastrous” ride.
